Join the Resistance Revival Chorus Nashville for a training on de-escalation and safety for performers, followed by an open rehearsal for Resistance Revival Chorus Nashville. Open to anyone!
The original Resistance Revival Chorus is a collective of women and non-binary vocalists who join together to breathe joy and song into the resistance, and to uplift and center women’s voices.
We aim to be intersectional in our feminism and reveal that all social justice issues overlap heavily with women’s issues; to harness the collective power of women to help change the world; to celebrate each other through song; to embrace Toi Dericotte’s idea of “joy as an act of resistance.”
Nashville has a rich history of resistance and resilience, with communities at the forefront of struggles while organizing and mobilizing against systemic oppression. We create this chorus to honor the activists who have come before us and carry the torch as the struggle of the South continues. We aspire to sing the songs of Tennesseeans and find direction from people who have direct ties to those songs.
This chorus is for musicians exploring activism and activists exploring music. We aim to spark moments of joy in the face of adversity by uplifting the voices of everyday people and shining a light on issues at hand. There will be no auditions, ensuring that it remains open and welcoming to all who wish to participate at any time. We will get together to sing when we can and perform anywhere we are called to action!
We invite you to join us and welcome your questions and input as we create this choir together.
